Presenting Symptom Left proptosis
History 18 year old with a left proptosis.
Clinical LT Proptosis X 3 months VA R 6/6 1+LAPD L 6/12 H R 13 Lt Disc Edema L 18 Lt Nasal Field Defect
Neuroimaging Normal right optic nerve. Edematous left optic nerve as the result of compression by the tumor. A large round tumor in the left orbit. A part of the tumor compressing the left optic nerve nasally. A large lesion enhancing in the left orbit. The coronal view with enhancement showing the large size of the left orbital schwannoma.
Anatomy Optic nerve
Pathology A gross specimen of the typical schwannoma. A higher pattern of the schwann cells of the schwannoma.
Disease/Diagnosis Neurilemmoma; Schwannoma
Treatment Surgical removal of tumor. The post-operative's appearance of the patient three months later with recovery of vision to 20/30 also the improvement of the relative afferent pupillary defect and improvement in his visual field.
