Description History: An 8-year-old boy presenting with chronic slowly progressive left proptosis without function deficit. Anatomy: Sphenoid sinus; Ethmoid sinus; Orbit. Disease Diagnosis: Dysplasia. Etiology: A large section of bone was removed to improve posterior orbital crowding and prevent possible compression. Neuroimaging: The dense thickened bones of the sphenoid and ethmoid sinuses between the eyes. Of note, the very thick bone in the ethmoid sinus area especially on the patient's left. The coronal view showing the thickening of the bones of posterior ethmoid and sphenoid sinuses, the roof of the left orbit and the parietal bone. Pathology: The craniotomy field to access the posterior spheno-orbital bones thickened from the fibrous dysplasia. A magnified view showing the bones thickened from fibrous dysplasia. The specimen fibrous dysplastic bone removed to improve the crowding of the posterior left orbit. Presenting Symptom: Chronic slowly progressive left proptosis without function deficit.
