Description There is an ever-increasing number of older Korean Americans who are living below the poverty level in the United States. Studies show a very small percentage of this population actually makes use of the government services of Medicaid, food stamps, or housing assistance for which they are eligible. Underuse of these services is often a result of social, language, and cultural barriers. The purpose of this project is to create a valuable resource specifically designed for community workers or volunteers in the Salt Lake City, Utah area which would assist them in their efforts to educate non-English speaking seniors in available services and how to apply for them. the project consists of a packet including information about the specific learning needs of adults, a step-by-step recommendation for instruction, and a concise review of services, benefits and language helps.
