Description Presenting Symptom: Glaucoma; Optic atrophy. Pathology: Blood in subretinal space. Clinical: An unusual occurrence is the extension of blood into the subretinal space as indicated in this case by the diffuse gray area below the disc. The patient had an 18-year history of diabetes. Of incidental interest - but of considerable significance - was the fact that the patient also had glaucoma with optic atrophy involving especially the upper half of the disc and relative sparing of this portion of the retina. Diabetic retinopathy does not generally occur in eyes with optic atrophy. The patient was a 28-year old female with an 18-year history of diabetes. Disease/ Diagnosis: Diabetic retinopathy
