Description The ophthalmoscopic appearance of brunettes varies according to the amount of pigment in the epithelium. In young pigmented persons, the fundus may have a uniformly dark appearance approaching that of the Negro [sic] fundus. But with age, the pigment in the epithelium of brunettes becomes attentuated and then reveals a choroidal pattern of vessels and interstitial choroidal pigment as seen here.
