Description Presenting Symptom: Retinal hemorrhage and telangiectasis. Clinical: Multiple small red dots consisting of punctate hemorrhages and microaneurysms in the posterior portion of the fundus are highly characteristic of diabetes. Also significant is the distension and tortuosity of the smallest venules. The patient was a 22-year old female with insulin-dependent but well-controlled diabetes since childhood.
