| Description |
Presenting Symptom: Focal occlusion; Retinal opacity. Pathology: Retinal hemorrhage. Clinical: A single cilioretinal artery emerges from the temporal side of the disc. The upper half of the central retina, including the upper half of the macula, shows an opacification of the retina corresponding to the area supplied by this artery. A small flame-shaped hemorrhage is present below the opacity. The patient was a 21-year old female who developed the focal occlusion without apparent cause. The circulation had been reestablished by the time the photograph was made. Disease/ Diagnosis: Retinal artery occlusion |
