Title Creating a Potential Solution for the Adverse Effects of Electric Vehicle Loading
Date 2019
Description The purpose of this project was to create a smart plug-adapter, which could limit the charging rate of electric vehicles, thereby allowing for greater control of the electric load. A user is able to control the charge rate through a cellular application. This project was designed to be utilized with an associated server-client system that was additionally created by another party that allows a scheduling algorithm to control the smart plug-adapter. A user is able to communicate with the server via a cellular application. The server then communicates with the Raspberry Pi, which in turn communicates with the FPGA. This can help to control the charge rate of the Charger. The software elements of the project were completed, and most of the hardware elements were completed as well. The plug-adapter functions properly and can limit the charge rate of an EV, although no external packaging was able to be created.
