Description |
This is an illustrated guide to the clinical diagnosis of neurosarcoidosis. Sarcoidosis is a chronic systemic inflammatory disorder characterized by non-caseating granulomas. It can affect multiple organ systems including the lungs, skin, orbit, and brain. When there is central nervous system (CNS) or peripheral nervous system (PNS) involvement, this is called neurosarcoidosis. Sarcoidosis is often associated with hilar or mediastinal lymphadenopathy which is a common biopsy site. Pathology typically shows non-caseating granulomas from the affected biopsy site. |
