Description A 59-year-old man was referred for assessment acute vision loss in the right eye. His examination showed: best-corrected visual acuity: light perception OD, 20/20 OS; pupils: Relative afferent pupillary defect OD; color vision: unable to visualize control plate OD, 14/14 OS correct Ishihara plates. His fundus examination showed arterial attenuation, embolic material (platelet/fibrin) migrating in the inferior arterial branch, diffuse retinal whitening and a cherry red spot in the macula. consistent with acute central retinal artery occlusion. The optical coherence tomography (OCT) of the macula of the right eye showed diffuse inner retinal edema and hyperreflectivity.
