Amy Tidwell placed first in the hurdles (8.4) with freshman Erianne Allen not far behind finishing sixth (8.83). Tidwell also placed third in the 200 meters (26.26) and had a fifth place finish in the high jump (5' 4"). Senior Natalie Durtschi tied with Tidwell for fifth place in the high jump. Freshman Kim Eldredge placed fifth in the 200 meters (26.94) and sixth in the 400 meters (60.45). Senior Stacey Rhineer had a first place finish in the triple jump (40' 9.5"), only six inches off the national qualifying mark, and took third in the high jump (5' 8"). Freshman Audrey Kiser moved into the top five on Utah's all-time performance list with her throw of 40' 3" in the shot put, also giving her a fourth place finish in the event. In the 800 meters, freshman Tara Tidwell placed fifth (2:22) and in the 55 meters, Tiffany Johnson finished third (7.63). Also having notable performances were Amber Radke (10:49) and Erika Floyd (10:54) in the 3,000 meters and Britta Schaer in the mile (5:24). For the men, senior Jeff Simonich had a first place finish in the mile run (4:12) giving him the second faster time in the mile ever run for the University of Utah. In the men's 3,000 meters, newcomer Chris Merkley finished in second place (8:40) with senior Dane Miller placing fifth (8:47) and junior Travis Hildebrand right behind in sixth place (8:54). |
