Redshirt senior Nikki Rietz led the way for the Utes, competing for the first time since last year's outdoor season. Rietz seemed to pick up right where she left off, recording a time of 4:34.22 to capture 13th. Sadie Wassum and Caitlin Faust accompanied Rietz with impressive performances. Wassum crossed the finish line in 23rd with a personal-best time of 4:42.44, followed by Faust in 28th (4:46.12). Dakota Grossman and Dana Snell also competed for the Utes, finishing 31st and 33rd, respectively. Andrea Chavez and Ali Eisenbeiss captured the top two spots in the 800 to lead the Utah women's track and field team at the Baldy Castillo Invitational on Saturday afternoon. Getting action underway for the Utes was the senior tandem of Andrea Chavez and Ali Eisenbeiss. Chavez, who is coming off a redshirt indoor season, and Eisenbeiss captured the top two spots in the event with times of 2:07.48 and 2:08.39, respectively. Junior Grace Englund also performed well, placing seventh with a time of 2:12.66. Allison Aafedt rounded out the Utah finishers, earning tenth with a time of 2:16.12. The 3,000-meter race featured four Utes placing in the top five. Leading the way was senior Kate Stringfellow in second, with a time of 10:08.42. Fellow senior Jocelyn Todd secured third in 10:10.65. Shaylen Crook placed fourth in 10:24.10 and Susannah Hurst Spencer finished fifth in 10:34.54. Junior Alissa Atisme earned fourth in the 400-meter dash with a time of 55.64 seconds. Also racing was Mesa Weidle, securing ninth in 59.75 seconds. In the 400-meter hurdles, junior Christine Van Brocklin led the way for the Utes. Van Brocklin placed fifth overall after recording personal-best time of 1:01.34, followed by Madison Lanford in 11th. Lanford returned to the track to compete in the 100-meter hurdles, where she finished 15th with a time of 15.70 seconds. Freshman Chrissy Glasmann represented the Utes in the javelin. Glasmann captured 14th overall with a throw measuring 127 feet, 5 inches. Utah placed second in the 4x800 relay with Caitlin Faust, Nikki Rietz, Sadie Wassum, and Dakota Grossman running a time of 9:28.11. The 4x400 relay comprised of Atisme, Englund, Aafedt, and Eisenbeiss placed eighth after recording a time of 3:51.72. In the high jump, Mackenzie Arnold placed 19th after leaping a distance of 16 feet, 2 inches. Sophomore Raynee Helm competed in the 100, recording a time of 12.79 seconds for 21st. |
