The University of Utah men's cross country team finished 10th out of 35 teams at the Pre-NCAA meet in Bloomington, Ind. on Saturday, site of the NCAA cross country championships in November. Utah, ranked No. 20 going into the meet, was lead by seniors Travis Hildebrand and Chris Merkley. Hildebrand placed 18th overall in the 8k race with a time of 24:36.97, his fastest time of the season. Merkley placed 24th with a time of 24:43.20. Utah was backed by Teren Jameson who placed 67th (25:18.97). Phil Stoddard placed 117th (25:51.45), followed by Mike Strauss finishing 161st (26:11.74), Adam Stark placing 203rd (26:46.04) and Lion Gallegos placing 212th (26:57.79). Johanna Nielsen also ran in the meet as an individual. She placed 24th overall out of 228 runners, running the 5k race in 17:52.70. |
