Description Burn specialty care is a limited resource, as evidenced by bed availability (<1,900 burn beds nationwide). Small burn mass casulty incidents can overwhelm local hospital systems. The American Burn Association provides national certification for the initial management of burn injuries, however it does not directly address the gap in care between acute stabilization and transfer to definitive care if burn -related care resources are limited and transport and transfer capabilities are delayed. Our state identified this gap and the need for an int er -professional collaborative burn disaster training course for all healthcare regions and other states in the Intermountain West.
