Description Although incorporating evidence-based practice (EBP) improves patient outcomes and reduces cost, nurses do not consistently implement EBP or understand their resources. A national survey in 2012 (Melnyk, 2012) of more than 1,000 nurses suggested that resistance from nursing leaders, organizational culture, and lack of related education are barriers that prevent nurses from implementing EBP. 76% of respondents also indicated that it was important for them to receive more education and associated skills.
