Description From Oct. 1, 2012-Jan. 31, 2013, 30% of General Surgery Short Stay first start OR cases entered the operating room on time. Of the 70% that started late, the average delay was 15 minutes. General Surgery averages 2.54 first case starts per business day. Overhead and personnel costs for 1 minute OR time are $45. Cost per week of general surgery late cases is $5906.
