The Utah women's cross country team placed seventh at the Pac-12 Championships Friday morning at the Stanford Golf Course. Junior Sarah Feeny paced the Utes finishing in 21st place overall while many other Utes earned new career-bests. Feeny finished the six-kilometer course in a time of 20:31.9 to lead the Utes. Sophomore Bella Williams followed behind Feeny, finishing in 36th place with a new career-best time of 20:59.5, while redshirt freshman Cara Woolnough earned 44th place overall, also coming in with a new 6K career-best time of 21:14.0. Senior Sadie Wassum and freshman Sophie Ryan rounded out the top-five scorers for the Utes. Both runners set new career-bests in the 6K, as Wassum captured 49th place with a time of 21:20.0 and Ryan placed 53rd overall with a time of 21:25.0. Freshman Kennedy Powell finished in 56th (21:28.9), freshman Scarlet Dale captured 58th (21:31.9), and junior Sarah Newton took 67th (21:41.4) overall. It also marked new 6K career-best times for both Powell and Newton. The Utes totaled 191 team points to capture the seventh-place finish. No. 4-ranked Oregon took home the team title with a total of 32 team points and knocked off No. 1 Colorado, who had won the conference championship the previous three years. No. 1 Colorado finished in second with 48 total team points. Rounding out the top-five teams is No. 6 Stanford (81 points, 3rd), No. 16 Washington (123 points, 4th), and UCLA (158 points, 5th). |
