Final Score The University of Utah women's track and field team wrapped up the first day of competition with two event titles at the Mountain States Games. The Utes also dominated the weight throw by earning three of the top-five spots. In the long jump, senior Brianna LeRoy posted a mark of 18-3.75 to win the event. Klaudia Rokossa cleared the mark of 12-9.50 to earn second place in the pole vault. Trailing after the third leg, the Utah distance-medley relay made a great come back to win the event. In the third leg of the race, freshman Andrea Chavez clocked a lifetime-best split of 2:16 before handing the baton to fellow freshman Susannah Hurst. On the final stretch of the race, Hurst trailed the leader by 100m before making up the ground to give the Utes a first-place time of 12:20.99. In the weight throw, the Utes earned the three of the top-five spots. Anneli Stahl finished the day with a throw of 57-6.50 for second place. Nikkie Rudder posted a personal-best mark of 56-9.50 to earn third. Junior Cynthia Sanchez finished fourth with a throw of 54-9.25, respectively for the Utes. After earning two event titles on Friday, the University of Utah track and field team wrapped up action at the Mountain States Games by winning two more events on the second day. The Utes were led by Rosalie Griffin's first-place finish in the 400m race. On the second day of competition, Utah's 4x400m relay team captured first place. Griffin led the charge with an indoor personal-record split of 57.3 seconds. Freshman Ali Eisenbeiss ran the second leg with a time of 56.3 seconds. Lauryn McKay clocked the fastest split on the third leg with a time of 55.5 seconds. Junior Alyssa Johnson broke the tape for the Utes, to clock a combined time of 3:45.75. In the 400m invitational, the Utes earned the top-two spots. Griffin passed fellow teammate Eisenbeiss on the final stretch to win with a time of 57.12 seconds. Eisenbeiss clocked a time of 57.35 to finish second, respectively for the Utes. Both athletes set new indoor personal-record times. After getting off to a great start, junior Angela Kaplar finished second place in the 60m hurdles. Kaplar crossed the line with a time of 8.82. Freshman Andrea Chavez clocked a lifetime-best 800m time of 2:14.76 to finish third place in the event. In the 3000m invitational, freshman Susannah Hurst posted a new indoor personal-best time with 10:07.03 to finish third. In the throwing events, the Utes dominated for the second consecutive day. Three Utah student-athletes qualified for the final round in the shot put. Junior Nikkie Rudder led the way with a second-place mark of 47-4.50. Alanna Nulph finished fourth with a throw of 43-4.50. Candus Aiello rounded out the top-five finishers with a fifth-place mark of 43-0.25, respectively for the Utes.
