Description My thesis revolves around the idea of creating a character. There have been countless theatre practitioners and theorists Stanislvasky to Meisner who have tried to develop the "best way" to create a character. This project centers around my personal process to create a character based on my training I have relieved through the University of Utah's Actor Training Program. Through the program I have been introduced to many different acting styles from Stanislavsky, Anna Deveire Smith, Uta Hagen and the Mesier technique. I am looking to combine to find while working on this project. As a case study I am going to work on the character of Thomas from the one-man show Misterman b Edna Walsh. I will be performing a selection from the play at the symposium, I will aso leave a few minutes towards the end of my 20 minute spot from questions if anyone has any about the process or performance, as well as a few showcases of the show in its entirety at a later date. Included in the research packet I am putting together will be a journal of my work, video recordings of select rehearsals and of the final performance and a brief paper on my findings in this project.
