Description This is a summary of an Integrative Service Project (ISP) in partnership with the University of Utah Bennion Center and Rise, Inc. In this project, I created and administered a healthy living program for a group of teens with special needs who participated in an after-school program at Rise, Inc., called JETS. The goal was to teach the classes about how to make healthy choices and avoid future chronic illnesses, as well as learn social skills through exercise. The curriculum included exercise, learning about chronic disease and risk factors and independent living skills. I was helped by Dr. Lynne Durrant, Ph.D. and many others in creating the curriculum. To ensure that the program is continued this curriculum was written and handed over to the program. This program was able to teach how to be healthy, and impact the lives of the kids who participated to lower their risk factors for chronic illness in the future as well as feel accomplished and meet goals.
