Description Through the design of an Integrative Service Project in collaboration with Utah 4-H, I was able to design, implement, and evaluate a fitness and nutrition program for Utah 4-H entitled, Recharge Fun, Food and Fitness. The project is a part of Utah State University's Extension; 4-H Teens Reaching Youth (TRY) program. The TRY program is designed to help students in eighth through twelfth grades develop skills in teaching and mentoring younger youths. Through a $50,000 grant from Wal-Mart, TRY teams (made up of two to four teens and an adult coach) were able to teach the Recharge nutrition and fitness curriculum to younger students. The curriculum was developed by Action for Healthy Kids in conjunction with the NFL and is designed to help students in second through sixth grades learn to practice good nutrition and physical activity habits. Overall, ninety-two teens and adult coaches, organized into 23 TRY Recharge teams completed eight hours of instruction in preparation for their teaching roles. By March 1, 2010 the TRY Recharge teams had taught a minimum of six hours of instruction to 370 younger youth and had contributed over 350 hours of volunteer service.
