Description Sexual violence is a pervasive problem in communities across the country, and Latinx individuals face unique challenges to accessing support systems to both prevent sexual violence, and heal from it. As the number of Latinx individuals in the state of Utah increases, work must be done to address how to prevent sexual violence within this community. Participation in prevention programs for the Latinx community in Salt Lake City has plateaued in the last few years. This study explores factors that deter Latinx individuals from engaging in these programs, and ways to increase participation. Findings from this research show that influences such as machismo, familism, and lack of trust contribute to the lack of participation in prevention programming on behalf of the Latinx community. The findings also show that engaging communities through organizing and a culturally appropriate lens, and increasing the organization's visibility, are methods to increasing participation in these programs.
