Description Alvin Kay was born in Mona, Utah on May 23, 1911. His parents are John Thomas and Mary Bascom Kay. He wass candidate of the Progressive Party for Vernal City Council. He is a resident of Vernal and has been for 40 years. Prior to becoming the owner/manager of Western Petroleum (1521 S. 1500 E), he was employed by Vernal City. He was a member of the Volunteer Fire Department and the Rod and Gun Club. He was also active in Vernal Junior Chamber of Commerce. His wife was Virginia Cooper and they had six children: Lawrence C., Charlene, Rice John, Myrna, Kenneth, Jerri Lynn. He passed away on September 1, 2001 at the age of 90. He is buried in the Vernal Memorial Park.
