Dr Smith received his B.A. from Amherst College in 1958 and his M.D. from Harvard Medical School in 1962. Dr Smith trained at the Harvard Service of the Boston City Hospital. Dr Smith came to the University in 1969 as Chief of the Division of Infectious Diseases in the Department of Medicine, serving in that capacity until 1981. Dr. Smith left the University to become the Chief of Medical Service at the VA Hospital in 1981. Dr Smith is Emeritus Professor of Internal Medicine. |
