Show 8 6194 4186 Nye- D A It was clamped on the back; on the stretch going down the Green river we kept it in the boat most of the time, in order to avoid damaging the propeller. Q How do you do this mapping of geology? A We had a topographic map; we mapped the formation; we had been mapping in the area between the rivers, mapping points at which the formation dipped below the surface, and mapping the contacts along the side of the canyon. Q Do you map that as your boat progresses? A We would go slow enough so we could map that as the boat progressed. We had to stop several places, though; one place in there we stopped two days to measure the section of the formations exposed. Q This mapping of geology, is it continuous as you go down, or can you make some observations and then map it at once, or just how do you do that? A It is continuous. We mapped it as we went along; had to show the location of the contacts of the formation between the formations. Q After you reached Moab, what did you do with your boat? A We stored it there. Q Is that the last time you have been back on the Green river? |
