Biographical Note/Historical Note +/-From 1970-1982, the Student Affairs Office at Westminster College was responsible for student orientation and worked with student government to prepare student handbooks each year. Beginning in 1983, the name of the office changed to the Student Services Office. The name has changed once again, now to Student Service Administraton. Currently, orientation information for students and their parents is made available electronically on the Westminster College webpage entitled First Year Student Orientation. This site has additional links for freshmen students, transfer students, international students, and parents and families. Content Description +/-This collection consists of orientation records created 1972-2003 by the Student Affairs Office (later called the Student Services Office) for new students and the parents of new students entering Westminster College, Salt Lake City, Utah. The materials include flyers, orientation handbooks, newsletters, programs, and schedules. Gaps in the collection: Student handbooks are lacking for the years 1974-1981, 1984-1986, 1988-1995, 1998, and 2001. Parents' orientation handbooks for only the years 1983-1985 are in the collection. It is unknown if handbooks for parents exist for other years. Collection Use +/-Restrictions on Access: Open to public research. Access to parts of this collection may be restricted under provisions of state or federal law. Twenty-four hours advance notice is encouraged. Restrictions on Use: It is the responsibility of the researcher to obtain any necessary copyright clearances. Permission to publish material must be obtained from the director of the Giovale Library.
