Abstract The Intelligent Emission Control System (InECtm) is a powerful tool that enables power plant operators to meet emissions requirements and maintain optimum performance of the combustion system. The InECtm system uses advanced computational intelligence techniques to create customized emission models for a particular boiler. It also utilizes a performance calculation based on the unit's controllable losses. An optimization algorithm combines information from the emissions and performance models to recommend the optimum control settings to the operator. The InECtm system has be en installed in two plants: a 680 megawatt wall fired boiler and an 80 megawatt tangentially fired boiler. This paper will discuss the application of the InECtm system for these two boilers and the results of these applications.
