Abstract ABB Combustion Engineering, Inc. is one of three contractors executing Phases I, II and III of the Department of Energy project entitled Engineering Development of Advanced Coal-Fired Low-Emission Boiler Systems (LEBS). Phase I has been completed and Phase II is scheduled for completion on September 30, 1996. The following major activities are being carried out in parallel in Phase II and this paper is a status report on this work: - In-furnace NOx reduction - Catalytic filter optimization - Add Kalina cycle to POCTF - POCTF design and licensing The in-furnace NOx reduction work has been completed and, therefore, a description of this work comprises the major part of this paper.
