| Description |
Spencer Stoddard Eccles was born in Ogden, Utah in 1894. He attended the University of Utah and served on the Board of Regents from 1951 to 1963. Mr Eccles died in 1965. In recognition of Mr Eccles significant financial contribution to the funding of the library, the building was named in his honor upon its opening in 1971. The portrait of Mr Eccles was painted by Alvin Gittins in 1976, and is located on the west wall near the main entrance of the Eccles Health Sciences Library. |
