Description Dr Ballinger was born in Lewistown, Montana in 1922. Dr Ballinger received both his B.A (1943) and M.D. (1945) from the University of Iowa.. Dr Ballinger completed his Internship at Fresno County Hospital (1945-1946). Dr Ballinger was a Resident in Surgery at the Crile Military Hospital in Cleveland, Ohio from 1948-1950, and a Resident in Anesthesiology at Columbia University from 1951-1953. Dr Ballinger came to the University as Instructor in 1953 and was named Chair of the Division of Anesthesiology at the University from 1954-1973. Dr Ballinger was Anesthesiologist-in-Chief from 1965-1973, and Associate Professor of Anesthesiology 1954-1976. Dr Ballinger left the University to become Professor and Chair of the Department of Anesthesiology at the New Jersey Medical School and College of Medicine and Dentistry from 1976-1978. Dr Ballinger was named Professor of Anesthesiology at the University of Colorado in 1979. Dr Ballinger died in 2010.
