Abstract Hadley (b. 1926) recalls his depression-era childhood and describes his enlistment in the Marines in February 1944. After boot camp in San Diego, he shipped out to Hawaii where he joined the 5th Marine Division's Joint Assault Signal Corps (JASCO). He participated in the invasion of Iwo Jima. Following VJ Day he was sent to Sasebo, Japan, for duty with the occupation army until July 1946. Interviewed by Becky Lloyd. 41 pages.
