Description Mark F. Leppert, Ph.D., professor of human genetics at the University of Utah School of Medicine, has been named interim chair of the Department of Human Genetics. The appointment, which awaits approval by the U of U Board of Trustees, fills the vacancy created recently when Raymond F. Gesteland, Ph.D., distinguished professor of human genetics and biology, resigned as chair to accept the position of University vice president for research. Gesteland also holds the Helen Lowe Bamberger Colby Presidential Endowed Chair in Human Genetics.
