Description Paroxysmal tonic upgaze syndrome of childhood consists of repetitive tonic conjugate upward eye deviations of variable duration. PTU usually begins in infancy with improvement, and even resolution, of eye movement disorder, in some cases within months to years. Some individuals experience variable degrees of motor and cognitive dysfunction.
