Description |
As noted earlier, factors other than histologic characteristics affect the prognosis of a patient with an astrocytoma. Two of the most important considerations are age at onset of symptoms and location of tumor. In this section, we consider these variables with respect to systemic prognosis. Astrocytomas of the cerebral hemispheres. Astrocytomas of the hypothalamus, 3rd ventricle, and pineal gland. Astrocytomas of the septum pellucidum. Astrocytomas of the brainstem. Astrocytomas of the cerebellum. Primary leptomeningeal gliomatosis. Astrocytomas of the anterior visual pathways. Optic gliomas. Optic nerve gliomas. Optic chiasmal gliomas. Optic disc gliomas. Malignant optic gliomas. |
