Description The cerebellum is located just caudal to the inferior colliculi and overlies the brain stem from the pontomesencephalic junction to the caudal extent of the medulla. It is connected with the brain stem by the three cerebellar peduncles: the superior cerebellar peduncle or brachium conjunctivum, the middle cerebellar peduncle or brachium pontis, and the inferior cerebellar peduncle or restiform body. The cerebellum consists of three main parts: a ventral midline structure, the vermis, and two lateral expansions, the hemispheres.
