Show U T A H S T A T E O F T H E A R TS Indian Baskets, Pioneer Quilts and Hispanic Music Carol Edison UTAH'S CULTURAL HERITAGE, like all of American society, is as diverse as the nations of the world, including American Indians and pioneer settlers from Britain, Scandinavia and the Yankee melting pot in the East. Immigration and the international influence of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS) have added Asian, European, Middle Eastern, African-American, Polynesian, and Central and South American cultures to the mix. How this diverse heritage influences Utahns' artistic expressions is demonstrated in the wide array of folk and ethnic arts practiced here today. 129 |
