Tins rises to a moderatesized tree. Its branches are defended with sharp spines. The leaves are pinnated, compo sed of four or five pair of pinne, heart-shaped, and obliquely veined. The flowers are yellow, small, and numerous. HISTORY. This tree was introduced from the Honduras into Jamaica, where it is now very common. The wood is firm, heavy, and of a dark red colour. Its taste is sweet, with a slight degree of astringency.
