Description In 1900, Klippel and Trenaunay described a syndrome with three essential ipsilateral features: a vascular ""nevus"" extending over one limb similar to those occurring in the SWS, varicosities that appear early in life, and local hypertrophy of the bone and soft tissues. In 1907, Parkes-Weber emphasized that such patients had other cutaneous angiomas as well. Consequently, for many years this condition was called the ""Klippel-Trenaunay syndrome"" in the European literature and the ""Parkes-Weber syndrome"" in the English literature. The names were subsequently combined, and the syndrome is called the Klippel-Trenaunay-Weber syndrome.
