A Yes, I operated them daily and was quits familiar with the channel, because of that daily operation. Q And you went back again in 1928? A 1928. Q At what time did you go back? A I believe in 1928 I went down about the 20th of October, somewhere around there, 1928. Q How far down did you go? A Went down about sixty miles, down to the east portion of the stretch of the river known as the loop; it is about six miles above the junction. Q How did you go down? A I went down with two small sixteen- foot boats, each equipped with an out- board motor. There were two of us made the trip. Q Who was with you? A The cook, named Gray. The rest of the party had arranged to come overland by truck and pack, down to the dam which was located at the foot of one of the only trails coming into the river in that lower portion.
