Show 4791 Miller- D 2805 country of rolling, blue, clay hills with rock outcroppings, and in many places it is typical of the Dakota Bad Lands, big domes, sharp projections sticking up, surface strewn with rocks; the country is filled with washes, sandy, just covered with small desert shrubs, no height at all. Q Does the land gradually rise towards the south? A No, I can't say that it does. Q What is the slope of it? A It slopes gently towards Green river; you go from one flat, there may be a big outcrop of rock or ridge, and you just pass through that and go on to another flat. Q What was the character of this land known as Wolverton's ranch, how large was it, and what did he have on it? A I didn't see anything on it except a cabin. Q Was any of it under cultivation at that time? A Not that I observed. Q Did you see the remains of any irrigation ditch or wheel on it? A No, I didn't. Q About how many acres would you say Wolverton had in there, if you remember? A I don't think he had it under fence, so I couldn't say how much land he had. Q What about Wimmer's place?
