A Yes sir, early spring. Q How late in the spring? A We, as a rule, came out of that country in May, I believe. Q So you would be occupied in meandering the river at times from December to May? A Yes sir. BY MR. BLACKMAR: Q At what points on the river did you make the crossings on horseback? A I crossed above the mouth of Copper canyon, and I crossed at the mouth of Nokai canyon; I crossed at the mouth of Piute canyon and above Piute canyon, I should say approximately two or three miles. Q Now, take first at Copper canyon, when you crossed there on a horse, did you observe how deep the water was? A The exact depth, I can't say that I did; I was merely Q Is that a rock or gravel crossing there, or was it a sand crossing? |
