What kind of horse were you riding? A I couldn't tell that; might have been a mule; I don't know. Q Was it an animal of fair, ordinary size? A It was a medium sized or mule, weighing eight or nine hundred or a thousand pounds, probably. Q How long would you estimate the legs of that animal to be? A I should judge thirty inches. Q Thirty inches. A Fore legs, yes; twenty- four inches, maybe. Q As you were crossing that stream you looked down, I assume, as you went along, to see where the water was reaching on the animal? A Yes. Q And your best recollection is that the depth of the water out in the channel would be two- thirds of the legs of the animal you were riding? MR. BLACKMAR: I object to that.
