Ab his primo 1 Marsi dissentire incipiunt, eamq; <N=10>oppidi partem, quæ munitissima videretur, occupant. Itaque omnes vno consilio Do- mitium productum in publicum circumsistunt & custodiunt; legatosque <N=15>ex suo numero ad Cæsarem mittunt: sese paratos esse portas aperire, quæque imperaverit, facere, & L. Quibus rebus cognitis, Cæsar, etsi magni interesse arbitra- batur, quamprimum oppido potiri, cohortesque ad se in castra transdu- cere, ne qua aut largitionibus, aut animi confirmatione, aut falsis nun- <N=20>tiis commutatio fieret voluntatis, quod sæpe in bello parvis momentis magni casus intercederent; tamen veritus, ne militum introitu, & no- cturni temporis licentia oppidum diriperetur, eos qui venerant, collau- dat, atque in oppidum dimittit; portas murosque asservari jubet.
