Description Color drawing of Seagull Monument. Back of card is captioned, "This is one of the beautiful views on Temple Square. The Seagull Monument commemorating the coming of the Seagulls to save the crops of the Mormon pioneers in 1848 from the hordes of crickets which were destroying everything in their path, thus saving the lives of the colonialists - a miracle as real as any found in the Holy Writ. The monument was designed, carved and its erection supervised by Mahonri M. Young, noted sculptor and grandson of Brigham Young.
