Show -2- - look forward to the joy of serving - in the years to come - but that doesn't help the Navahos right now. Our good friend Dr. Burnham has written to a prominent medical journal, appealing for some doctor who wants even a short taste of the joys of the sacrificial life. Perhaps these lines will come to such -a person. The need can hardly be overestimated. Our clinic, as you know, was planned for four adult and eight children's beds, yet we have had more than once a total of sixteen patients at a time. By the time you read this, it will probably be a year after the formal dedication of our clinic by Bishop Watson-April 24, 1956. You'll be interested to know that we have had 54 deliveries in that time, and also have treated hundreds of patients. This does not include medical ministrations in hoghan visits or roadside encounters - a not inconsiderable phase of our work. On March 18 we had the unusual occurrence of two deliveries, within five minutes of each other. One mamma came in about sundown on Sunday, and had her baby shortly after midnight; there wasn't time for Catherine to tie up and cut the cord before a pickup drew in at the clinic, and a frantic expectant father who had been violating all speed laws from Mexican Hat brought in his wife, set her on the examining table, and lo! a boy it was!
