Show in H.R. 9220, the Public Works Appropriation Bill for fiscal year 1966. There were no Hearings held by the Congress during the 1965 water year on Bills to authorize the construction of additional units or features of the Colorado River Storage Project and participating projects. Eden Project and Riverton Project, Wyoming At its Adjourned Annual Meeting held in Salt Lake City, Utah on November 5, 1964 the Commission unanimously adopted a resolution endorsing the completion of the Eden Project in Wyoming through use of power revenues of Wyoming's share of the Upper Colorado River Basin Fund (70 Stat. 107). The Eden Project utilizes water from the Upper Colorado River System. The text of the resolution explains the reasons for its adoption. RESOLUTION by UPPER COLORADO RIVER COMMISSION Endorsing The Completion Of The Eden Project In Wyoming Through Use Of Power Revenues Of Wyoming's Share Of The Upper Colorado River Basin Fund WHEREAS, the Eden Reclamation Project was initiated in 1907 for irrigation of about 9,540 acres under the Carey Act, was authorized in 1940 for rehabilitation under the Water Conservation and Utilization Act of 1939 but suffered a work stoppage in a few months by order of the War Production Board, and was reauthorized for rehabilitation and enlargement to 20,200 acres in 1949; and WHEREAS, the 1949 Eden Project Reauthorization Act specified: that the project was to be constructed by the Bureau of Reclamation of the Department of the Interior, that the land development and settlement work on new lands was to be accomplished by the Soil Conservation Service of the Department of Agriculture, that of the construction costs not less than $1,500,000 for a project of 20,000 irrigable acres or a proportionate part thereof based on actual irrigable area shall be reimbursable by the water users in 60 years, that construction costs beyond the financial capability of the water users shall be returned from power revenues of the Colorado River Storage Project; and 42 |
