Show Under the able leadership of Howard Anderson, freshman coach, a high degree of proficiency was attained by the freshman debaters in their activities. Without his capable coaching and untiring zeal, such supremacy would have been probably unlikely. Anderson, a junior, was an outstanding debater as well as an honor student.Howard AndersonCoach**rwiBrycon, HarlineCircuit, SpaldingFlogcrasAnother successful freshman year in the forensic arts has been completed under the direction of Howard Anderson, freshman coach, and Osmond Harline, freshman debate manager. The task of bridging the gap between inter-scholastic and inter-collegiate debate is a great one, yet a willing freshman debate squad achieved that finer technique. Keen competition and splendid spirit marked the group as one of the finest in years.Osmond Harline and Geoffrey Circuit represented the freshmen in the Western Sta+es Speech tournament last fall. Harline, Circuit, George Naylor, and Donald Bateman went on the annual freshman tour through southern Utah. They debated the school teams of Snow College at Ephraim, Branch Agricultural College at Cedair City, and Dixie College at St. George. Six freshmen competed in the annual Utah-Idaho Junior College Forensic League tournament Qf Ogden last March, where they established themselves as formidable varsity candidates. The squad, which was successful in entering teams in every forensic event for which freshmen were eligible consisted of: Donald Bateman, George Bryson, George Naylor, Osmond Harline, Geoffrey Circuit, Roy Simmons, Raedell Evans, George Waki, Albert Spaulding, George Lee, Andrew Flor-jeras, Ruth Davis, and Helen Richards. Two Hundred Twenty-four |
