Show 3847 Gerdine- D 1868 forty- three hundred foot contour. They probably had elevations out in there above the thirty- nine hundred foot contour; they simply sketch these contours up to that elevation. If you will follow through the general map you will find no great effort was made to carry the topography up above the thirty- nine hundred contour. Q Is that true in places where the contours do not spread out, and apparently just form the canyon wall? A I don't follow your question. Q What I am trying to get at, for instance, this contour runs to forty- three hundred. Assuming for the minute the canyon wall there was five thousand. Might it be five thousand and not show on this map? A Oh, yes, it could be. These walls are very much higher than thirty- nine hundred, if that is your question. Q Each one of these contours which appear on this map along the stream show a rise of how many feet? A I think twenty- five, or twenty,-- I don't recall, twenty- foot contours. Q I see that is indicated here. A Yes, that is indicated on the map Q at mile 11, Mr. Gerdine, I see what looks to me like a blue line. What does that indicate? A That is stream course when there is water down it, this represents the intermittent stream course. |
