Description Patients with the rapid form of VE tend to have evidence of inflammation in the CSF with intrathecal oligoclonal IgG. A mononuclear pleocytosis is present, with the CSF containing 2090 cells/mm3. The concentration of protein in the CSF is increased, but glucose is normal. Neuroimaging studies typically show hydrocephalus.
