Q How did you get them from the mouth of Wilson creek to the dredge? A At one trip I got one load with the scow that was formerly brought in at Hite, and they brought the well rig down as far the California bar, then took it afterwards down and used it for boating from the lower landing, what is called Wilson creek, up to where the dredge is; after that time there had been a four- horse Fairbanks- Morse engine installed on it with a stern wheel. I used that for bringing up one load of supplies; I also used that for going up the river to get some wood up above the dredge. Q About what horsepower was that engine? A That was a four- horsepower Fairbanks- Morse. Q Did it have enough power to go up stream? A It did along through the still water, where the water wasn't too heavy.
